Founded in 1991, deam design is an Architectural design firm with a wide range of project types including residential homes and interiors, new condominium towers, and commercial interiors. We also offer planning, Construction Management, and residential Building Management services.

Being a lean, hands-on design firm, we frequently collaborate with other designers, consultants, and builders to complete larger projects efficiently. Projects range from modest interior renovations to mid-size offices and new construction. With strong Construction Management skills, deam design offers full services for each project, from initial discussions and planning concepts through construction oversight and coordination. Building Managers tap into the firm’s many years of experience working with contractors, designers and engineers, as well as addressing code, zoning, and Building Department issues. Careful attention to design, budget, and schedule allows each project to flow through each phase of design and construction in a timely, organized manner. Each project is carefully crafted to address programmatic requirements, context, and aesthetics.

A native of California and a graduate of UC Berkeley, Gary Deam has worked as a Registered Architect in New York City since 1984. In addition to offering a wide range of design and Architectural services, he currently serves as Building Architect for several Manhattan cooperative and condominium apartment buildings. Equally comfortable with traditional and contemporary styles, he is sensitive to and interested in each client’s preferences, while always remaining aware of practical considerations. Gary remains completely connected to all phases of each project, with a careful oversight of all associates, consultants, and contractors. His free-time passions include travel, food, and music.

Recent projects include a Park Avenue Office suite, a traditional house restoration in Spring Lake, NJ, townhouse renovations, several loft and apartment interiors, and a new residential condominium tower in Williamsburg, NY.
